Bolsonaro’s defense asks the STF for authorization for physiotherapy sessions

The defense of former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) asked the Federal Supreme Court (STF) for authorization this Wednesday, 17th, for the former head of the Executive to be treated by a physiotherapist at the Federal Police Superintendency, in Brasília.

According to lawyers, the request meets the recommendation of Bolsonaro’s personal doctor for daily respiratory and motor physiotherapy sessions. The objective is to maintain physical conditioning and postural readjustment.

“The defense indicates, for the purposes of administrative organization and compliance with the internal rules of the Federal Police Superintendence, that physiotherapeutic care be provided once a day, on working days, during the Superintendence’s standard operating hours, in order to provide organization and predictability, as well as continuity of the recommended treatment”, stated the lawyers.

This Wednesday, Bolsonaro underwent a medical examination to assess his health status. The order that determined the procedure was published on Monday, 15th, by minister Alexandre de Moraes.

The decision recorded that, in the medical examination carried out during the execution of the arrest warrant, on November 22, there was no indication of any condition that would justify the need for immediate surgical intervention.

Before setting the date for the examination, the minister had already authorized examinations to be carried out on the premises of the PF Superintendence. Moraes ordered, this Monday, to send a copy of all exams and reports to the experts responsible for the evaluation.

The former president’s defense asked the STF, also on Monday, for authorization to perform surgery and grant house arrest, on the grounds of worsening health conditions.

Lawyers maintain that recent exams would indicate the need for surgical intervention and that the treatment could not be carried out in a closed regime.
