Important decision already this weekend: American and Russian officials will negotiate

US and Russian officials will meet in Miami this weekend as part of President Donald Trump’s administration’s efforts to end the nearly four-year conflict between Russia and Ukraine. This was reported by Politico magazine on Wednesday, citing two sources, writes TASR.

According to one of the sources, special envoy Kirill Dmitriyev should also be part of the Russian delegation. Traditionally, the American side should be represented by Trump’s envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. According to one Politico source, Ukrainian negotiator Rustem Umerov may meet with the American delegation before then.

Both American ambassadors participated in negotiations with European and Ukrainian representatives in Berlin this week with the aim of negotiating security guarantees for Ukraine or the possibility of territorial concessions to Russia. The United States reportedly offered Kiev security guarantees similar to Article Five of the North Atlantic Treaty.
