Kidnapped in 1983 at the age of three, Michelle was found (alive) 42 years later

Michelle disappeared in April 1983, aged just three, kidnapped by her mother. Her father never saw her again. Until now. More than 40 years later, the woman was found alive by the police and all thanks to a tip.

On April 2, 1983, Michelle and her mother, Debra Newton, left the city where they lived, in the state of Kentucky, in the United States, and were never seen again.

At the time, Debra told her husband that I had found a new jobin the state of Georgia, about 10 hours away from where they lived, and therefore the family had to move.

Michelle’s father, Joseph, was supposed to accompany his wife and daughter, but Debra left Kentucky with her daughter early and without saying anything to anyone.

For years, US authorities searched for Debra and Michelle, without success. THE case ended up being archived in 2000 and five years later, Michelle’s information was removed from missing children’s databases.

Until, this year, a clue would prove to be essential to reopen the investigation.

According to the North American television channel WFTV9, cited by the magazine , a witness reported to the police having seen Debra in Floridaalmost 600 kilometers away from the state of Georgia, where he was supposed to have moved.

It was then that the police took action and went to the place where Debra had been seen. Armed with an arrest warrant, the agents arrived at the woman’s house – which changed name to ‘Sharon’ – to stop her.

Now 46, Michelle – who grew up being called by another name – I had no idea she had been kidnapped by her mother and who had been missing since 1983.

The woman reunited with his father 42 years later. Regarding his mother’s trial, he says that his intention is “to support both [os pais] during the process so that everyone can recover.”
