In a speech to military personnel, the Russian president criticizes Europe’s alignment with the Biden administration and states that objectives in Ukraine will be achieved ‘by force or diplomacy’
The president of , , raised the tone of criticism of the West this Wednesday (17) by calling its allies “European pigs”. During the annual meeting of the Ministry of Defense, Putin stated that the country could seize new Ukrainian territories if the government in Kiev and Europe reject the peace proposals presented by the .
The insult was delivered in a context of criticism of European leaders, whom Putin accused of having supported the efforts of the previous US administration, under , to weaken Russia. According to the president, such attempts failed and European countries acted in the expectation of benefiting from an alleged Russian collapse.
In addition to the rhetorical attacks, the Kremlin leader issued a direct military warning. He assured that Moscow’s forces are advancing on all fronts and that Russia’s objectives will be achieved “by force or diplomacy”.
Putin emphasized that, in the absence of substantial negotiations, he will order what he calls the “liberation of historic lands” through military means. The conflict, which began in February 2022, remains the point of greatest geopolitical tension between Russia and the West since the Cold War.
