The Senate plenary began this Wednesday afternoon (17) the analysis of the Dosimetry PL. The project reduces sentences for those convicted of January 8th and the coup plot judged by the STF (Supreme Federal Court).
Before the analysis in the plenary, (Constitution and Justice Committee), in a meeting that lasted almost five hours and was suspended after a request for review (more time for analysis).
The senators analyze the text of the rapporteur, senator Amin Esperidião (PP-SC). At the CCJ (Constitution and Justice Commission), the rapporteur accepted the senator’s amendment Sergio Moro (União-PR) .
In practice, the proposal should benefit people other than those who participated in January 8th, including those convicted of acts against democracy, as is the case of the defendants investigated for the coup plan after the 2022 elections. This is the case of former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL).
The proposal deals with reducing the calculation of sentences and, to this end, the text lists conditions and sets minimum percentages for serving the sentence and progressing the regime. It also determines that the remission of the sentence may be compatible with house arrest.
