The Cultural Center in Sipoteni became energy independent thanks to the solar panels

The Multifunctional Cultural Center in the village, Călărași district, has become practically energy independent, reducing to zero expenses for electricity and heating, reports Noi.md.

Sipoteni City Hall was designated the winner of the “Moldova Eco Energetica 2025” competition, in the “Best project in the field of renewable electricity in public buildings” category.

The photovoltaic panels were installed in 2023, with the support of the Government, through the European Village and DAR 1+3 programs, and a system with a total capacity of 57.6 kW was installed. If previously the institution consumed almost 10 thousand kWh of electricity annually, in 2024 the consumption from the network was reduced to zero.

“Today, this problem has completely disappeared,” said the mayor of the village of Sipoteni, Vasile Rață, referring to the difficulties related to the high heating bills of previous years.

According to the mayor, the savings reached approximately 80 thousand lei, money that will be redirected to other local projects.

Currently, the Cultural Center offers optimal conditions for over 200 children and houses an arts school, artistic ensembles, library and ethnography museum, becoming an example of sustainability and energy efficiency for rural communities.
