The Ministry of the Interior assures that the damage to the government special vehicle in Brussels will not affect the operation of the squadron. A replacement plane will arrive for Prime Minister Robert Fico’s delegation.
The Ministry of the Interior of the Slovak Republic does not expect that the damage to the government special aircraft at the Brussels airport would affect the functioning of the government squadron. Matej Neumann, the spokesperson of the department, stated this for TASR, saying that the incident occurred during the upcoming holidays and the decrease in the use of aircraft for work purposes. A replacement plane will arrive for the delegation of Prime Minister Robert Fico (Smer-SD).
“The damaged Airbus is currently grounded at the airport in Brussels. We are assessing its technical condition, while also consulting with the manufacturer. The priority is to create conditions for the return of the aircraft to its home base as soon as possible and for immediate repair,” he said. As he added, it is not an extensive damage, but a professional assessment is needed.
Causes of damage
The government special aircraft of the Aviation Department of the Slovak Ministry of the Interior had an accident on Wednesday at the airport in Brussels when it was damaged by a vehicle with stairs. Before that, he brought the prime minister to the EU summit with the Western Balkans and the European Council meeting.
