A 12-year-old boy was arrested in the city of Malmö, Sweden, accused of participating in a contract murder that ended with the death of a 21-year-old young man. According to the Swedish newspaper The Expressthe minor would have received the equivalent of R$150,000 to commit the crime, but ended up killing the wrong target.
The attack took place last Friday (12). The victim was in an Audi car, accompanied by friends, when the vehicle was shot at. After the shots were fired, the occupants abandoned the car on a residential street and fled. Police were called after a third party informed authorities about the attack.
The boy was apprehended on Tuesday (16) and, as he was a minor, he was not sent to a regular prison, but was placed under the care of Social Services.
According to the newspaper South Swedenthe boy had lived with his grandmother since he was seven years old and had recently run away from home. The publication also states that this would not have been the first time that he was used as an executor in commissioned crimes, raising concerns about the enticement of minors by criminal organizations.
Prosecutor Caroline Carlquist, responsible for the preliminary investigation, reported that the case involves three attempted murders and one completed murder. To date, the person responsible for the crime has not been identified.
