President Luiz Inácio da Silva (PT) made a joke this Wednesday (17) with the assassination plan that would target him and the vice-president (). The PT member referred to him and Alckmin as “angels” and “a little couple of parakeets”.
Lula made the statement during a ministerial meeting when he stated that the opposition wants “January 8th to fall into oblivion.” According to the president, a symbolic act will be carried out at the beginning of next year to remember the coup attacks.
“We want society to never forget that one day this country had someone who didn’t know how to lose an election and decided, in the most stupid way, to continue governing this country, including trying to kill both of us, our little lovebird couple. Two angels here, and the guys wanted to come up with a plan to kill me and Alckmin. If it were a brute guy like you, Rui [Costa, ministro da Casa Civil]. But me and Alckmin? The two biggest angels here,” he said.
On Tuesday (16), the First Panel of the (Supreme Federal Court) unanimously decided, retired general and former executive secretary of the General Secretariat of the Presidency, which confirmed the plan to kill authorities.
The military is part of core 2 of the coup plot. The former director of the PRF (), (former international advisor to the Presidency), Marcelo Costa Câmara (former advisor to the Presidency) and Marília Ferreira (former member of the Ministry of Justice) were also convicted.
Mário Fernandes received the longest sentence in the trial, with 26 years and 6 months in prison.
The PF (Federal Police) found documents with the military planning the murder of Lula and Alckmin using military weapons or poisoning at a public event, as well as Supreme Minister Alexandre de Moraes.
During interrogation in , the general stated that the file “Green and Yellow Dagger”, found on his computer, was never shared with anyone.
