Messias has lower rejection than Zanin, points out Quaest – 12/18/2025 – Panel

, the vacancy in the (Supreme Federal Court) is disapproved by 45% of people, a level lower than the 60% who rejected the choice of , former lawyer of the president (PT), for the court, according to the Genial/Quaest survey.

The survey was conducted from December 11 to 14 with 2,004 respondents aged 16 and over. The estimated margin of error is two percentage points, plus or minus.

According to the survey, 30% approve of Messias’s appointment to a vacancy on the STF, while 45% disapprove and 25% do not know or did not respond. In the case of Zanin, according to data from April 2023, approval was 23%, compared to 60% rejection and 17% of respondents who did not know or did not respond.

Genial/Quaest also questioned whether the president should have the power to nominate whoever he wants to the STF. In June 2023, 59% said no, compared to 34% who said yes. In December of this year, the share of those who think it was not dropped to 54%, and 41% said yes.

The survey also shows that 65% said they did not know that Lula had nominated Messias for a vacancy on the STF, while 35% responded that they knew.
