The minister of the (Supreme Federal Court) authorized this Thursday (18) a new testimony from the former president (PL). The hearing will be held on December 30th.
The investigation concerns the origin of goods found in two safes located at Palácio da Alvorada. They were opened on June 25, after the Presidency of the Republic called the Federal Police.
In the decision, given as part of the action in which he was sentenced to 27 years in prison for an attempted coup d’état, Moraes states that the Federal Police made a request, just this Thursday.
Bolsonaro began moving Alvorada, the main official residence of the Presidency of the Republic, on December 15, 2022.
“In view of the fact that personal documents of former President Jair Messias Bolsonaro were found, along with other assets, it is necessary to carry out a hearing on him, so that he can express his opinion on the ownership and origin of such assets”, said the PF to the case’s rapporteur.
The hearing should take place at the headquarters of the PF Superintendency in Brasília, where Bolsonaro is imprisoned, on New Year’s Eve, between 9 am and 11 am.
The former president is, when he was preventively detained.
The former president’s defense has asked Moraes for authorization for Bolsonaro to undergo surgery.
According to lawyers, he needs a surgical procedure to correct a bilateral inguinal hernia, in addition to additional interventions.
Moraes has not yet decided on this request.
Last Monday, the rapporteur determined that the examination carried out the day before and the reports attached to the files be sent for analysis by medical experts by Wednesday (17) at the INC (National Institute of Criminalistics). Based on this expertise, the minister would provide a conclusion to the request.
