My secret way to wash mirrors. Everything I need is in the kitchen

Mirrors, especially bathroom ones, get dirty very quickly. We have to wipe them almost every day, which is extremely irritating. So why not make it easier for yourself? The trick used by our grandmothers can work wonders.

Fingerprints and dirt from greasy cosmetics often appear on the smooth glass surface. Splashing water leaves a scale deposit, just like toothpaste. To remove them, you do not have to use expensive detergents, the artificial smell of which will remain in the air for a long time. When I want to clean a mirror, I use a mixture of potato starch and water. Just a tablespoon of powder per half liter is enough for it to work.

Pour the solution into a spray bottle, shake vigorously and spray the mirror surface. Then polish the whole thing with a microfiber cloth and you’re done. The surface will shine like new, and there will be no streaks on its surface. Starch will not only dissolve dirt and scale, but also absorb fat. This method is not only cheap, but also extremely ecological. You can also use the starch solution to clean other smooth surfaces, such as tiles, fittings or high-gloss furniture.

If you don’t have potato starch on hand, you can also clean the mirror with a solution of water and vinegar.. Mix both liquids together in a half-and-half ratio, spray on the glass and polish. This homemade spray gives an effect comparable to expensive glass cleaners, and the mirror shines without streaks and stains. The disadvantage of this method is the smell of vinegar, which disappears quickly.

You can also use water from cooking rice to clean mirrors. It will work similarly to potato starch. When washing smooth glass surfaces, the most important thing is not to pour too much water on them. The surface should only be slightly moistened and always wiped dry. This will prevent streaks from forming. Moreover, too much water may seep under the frame and damage the silver floor, making the mirror beyond repair.
