The substitute Missionary José Olímpio stated this Thursday (18) that he has already been formally communicated by the Chamber of Deputies to definitively assume the mandate left by .
“I have already been formally notified by the Chamber of Deputies to take up the mandate, in accordance with the regulatory procedures.”
The call takes place after the Board of Directors of the Chamber declared the loss of Eduardo Bolsonaro’s mandate due to an administrative act, without a vote in plenary. The deputy exceeded the absence limit permitted by the House’s Internal Regulations. Out of the country for months, Eduardo is also being investigated by the Federal Supreme Court (STF) for having articulated, in the United States, sanctions against Brazilian authorities, including ministers of the Court.

José Olímpio said that, upon taking up the position, his work in Congress will be guided by a conservative agenda.
“My actions will be guided by defending the interests of the Brazilian population, focusing on social issues, religious freedom, strengthening the family, job creation and social development,” he said.
Who is Missionary José Olímpio
Evangelical missionary and veteran politician, José Olímpio returns to the Chamber after having already served two previous terms as a federal deputy for São Paulo, between 2011 and 2019. Affiliated to the PL, he built his parliamentary career with a strong connection to the evangelical bench and customs issues, maintaining recurrent work on topics related to religious freedom, family and social policies.
Throughout his career, he was part of parliamentary fronts with a conservative profile and aligned himself with Bolsonarism, although he is not part of the closest core of the Bolsonaro family. His profile is that of an ideological parliamentarian, with a speech aimed at religious voters and a constant presence in debates on moral values in Congress.
With the impeachment of Eduardo Bolsonaro, José Olímpio takes over as PL’s first substitute in São Paulo. He was second on the scale and became first in line after Adilson Barroso took over Carla Zambelli’s mandate this week. As he has already held office during a medical leave, he has already taken office and will not need to repeat the ceremony. He assumes the definitive mandate automatically, after the completion of the Chamber’s internal administrative procedures.
