A group led by three Santa Clauses and around 40 masked “elves” entered a supermarket last Monday (15), in Montreal, Canada, and stole approximately US$3,000 (R$16,000) worth of food such as meat, fruits and vegetables.
The Robins des Ruelles group would have been responsible for the robbery. The robbers allude to the story of Robin Hood, who stole from the rich and gave to the poor. According to one post, the stolen food was placed in Valois square, under a Christmas tree, while the other part was taken to community refrigerators.

Ancient tradition
The action involved an old European tradition that is still alive in Canada, called “guignoleé”, where at the beginning of the year people go from door to door asking for donations of money, clothes or food for those in need.
