Italian police arrest 384 people in mega operation against drug trafficking

Italian police reported this Saturday (20) that they arrested 384 people and seized 1.4 tons of drugs in a major operation against drug trafficking.

In addition to the arrests, police officers indicted 655 people, including 39 minors, and confiscated 35 kilograms of and more than 40 firearms, according to a police statement.

The operation, concluded on Friday (19) in several provinces, resulted in the temporary closure of five stores in three cities, after 312 inspections.

During the checks, police reported that they seized 296 kilograms of cannabis-based products, which, according to initial tests, were illicit drugs.

In June, Italy passed a security decree banning so-called “legal” cannabis and criminalizing the trade in “cannabis light”, or hemp, which, unlike marijuana, has no psychoactive effects.
