Holidays are a time of joy, closeness and gestures that are meant to bring pleasure. However, the principles of savoir-vivre suggest that not every gift idea is equally good.
Anti-wrinkle cosmetics, dietary supplements, weight loss guides and gym memberships may be perceived as a taunt. These types of gifts send an ambiguous signal: “you should change something about yourself.” Even if it is an expression of concern, it is better to give them up without an explicit request.
