The president will sign a decree next Tuesday (23), in yet another strategy to get closer to the evangelical electorate, close to the former president (PL).
The ceremony is scheduled for Palácio do Planalto and should be attended by gospel singers, evangelical leaders and politicians.
Senator Eliziane Gama (PSD-MA) helped to articulate the initiative, which also included the participation of the Union’s attorney general, the minister of Secom, and Lula himself.
The proposed decree was prepared after meetings with Sidônio, Lula and the minister (Institutional Relations).
“This recognition is of great importance to preserve gospel music and value it”, says Eliziane. “Its acceptance as an intangible cultural asset represents an essential step towards the preservation and promotion of Brazil’s cultural diversity. It is an important chapter that the country is writing, further expanding its musical diversity.”
The PT member is trying to get closer to the evangelical electorate for the 2026 elections. The decree must recognize gospel as a manifestation of national culture, encompassing music, theater and religious literature.
The measure will also establish guidelines for the appreciation, promotion and protection of gospel culture in the country.
