The governor of Paraná, . (PSD), visited the state’s coast this Friday (19) and decided not to attend a ceremony with Lula to inaugurate a new bridge connecting Brazil to , in Foz do Iguaçu (PR).

Possible candidate for president next year, the governor gave as justification the fact that the launch of an operation related to the summer season on the state’s beaches, which involves 2,000 security agents, had already been scheduled for 22 days.

Ratinho Jr. stated that “it would not be okay with his conscience to leave men and women of the security forces in the background who left their homes during this festive period to defend the people of Paraná.”

Behind the scenes, there was a complaint from the Paraná government with the fact that Lula kept Friday (19) as the inauguration date, when he could have moved the event to Saturday (20), when leaders of the party meet in the city of Paraná.

Paraguayan President Santiago Peña himself was reportedly uncomfortable with the calendar, and intends to hold his own inauguration on Saturday.

Last week, in relation to an access road to the new bridge.

The Dnit and the Federal Highway Police tried to veto the inauguration, pointing out the lack of adequate signage, but the road was opened by the governor, with the argument that it is a work of the state DER (Department of Highways).
