You can no longer rely on Ms. Holle, even at 1,750 meters above sea level: with the snowmakers in the Hohe Tauern


Natural snow is no longer what it used to be. The skis are also different – more aggressive than before, with more edge and dependent on a base that can withstand the pressure. Artificial snowmaking has become a question of survival for many ski areas. Even in places where you wouldn’t expect it, consistent, reasonably safe skiing could not be guaranteed throughout the winter if Ms. Holle alone was relied upon.
