The date for the vote has not yet been set – it will most likely be a Sunday in April – but the election campaign in Hungary is already in full swing. For the first time in 16 years, long-term prime minister Viktor Orbán is faced with a serious challenger. Péter Magyar, a dropout from Orbán’s ruling party Fidesz, has been leading with his Tisza party in most opinion polls for many months. Orbán’s deselection seems at least possible.
