Less than 24 hours after the publication of the first part of the so-called Democrats on the House Oversight Committee accused the Justice Department of removing material from the Epstein files. TASR informs about this according to the Sunday report of the DPA agency.
- Democrats have accused the Justice Department of tampering with Epstein’s files.
- Famous personalities, including Trump, appeared in the photos.
- The DPA agency found differences between older and newer versions.
- The Justice Department has denied tampering with files to benefit Trump.
- Epstein had extensive contacts with high-ranking figures in world politics.
In its post on Platform X, the committee said that one of the photos appeared to have been removed from a package of files available for download on the ministry’s website.
Pictures with politicians
The affected image contains several framed photographs. One older image shows US President Donald Trump and his wife Melania alongside the now-deceased convicted sex offender and pedophile Jeffrey Epstein and his longtime associate Ghislaine Maxwell. Former US President Bill Clinton appears in another photo, DPA cites.
The US Department of Justice has not yet commented on these claims. US Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche claimed on Saturday that the ministry did not manipulate the published materials in any way in favor of Trump.
The White House said Friday night through a spokeswoman that the current US administration is the “most transparent” in the country’s history after releasing thousands of files.
In a random check, DPA found that the newer version of the first data set, which was available on Saturday, contained at least 16 fewer files than the older version from Friday afternoon. In addition to the photo that the Democrats referred to, some images of the room with the massage table were also missing from the newer version.
Epstein’s contacts
Convicted sexual predator and pedophile Epstein was known for his contacts with high-ranking people in the US and the world, including Trump, who has long tried to keep the files secret, AFP reports.
Among the materials released Friday were many redacted documents, including police statements, investigative reports and photographs. Among others, former US President Bill Clinton, singers Mick Jagger and Michael Jackson, or former British Prince Andrew, now known as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, are in the footage.
