Last Friday (19), the Federal Court ordered Aneel to comment on the administrative measures adopted after the blackout that occurred in São Paulo due to the heavy rains recorded on December 10th. Within a period of 5 days, the company will also have to inform about the impacts of the measures adopted in the progress of the process that determines the possible expiry of Enel’s concession.
The action took place hours after São Paulo City Hall requested urgency in completing the analysis of the concession expiry process. Among the arguments presented, the municipal government highlights that new extreme events have once again exposed weaknesses in the concessionaire’s service.
According to the statement, this scenario reinforces the need for a quick decision on Enel’s ability to continue in charge of the concession.
So far, São Paulo City Hall has filed three lawsuits against the concessionaire. Among them is also the request for clarification on the stoppage of a significant part of the vehicle fleet that should have been mobilized to repair the electrical network affected by climate events.
