Joesley Batista works to make Otto Lobo president of the CVM, says newspaper

Businessman Joesley Batista is working behind the scenes to ensure that Otto Lobo becomes president of . The information comes from columnist Lauro Jardim, from the newspaper O Globo.

According to the publication, Joesley is campaigning for the current interim to take over the position permanently. His mandate will end on December 31st and the tendency is for Minister Fernando Haddad not to renew it.

João Pedro Nascimento announced on July 18 his resignation as president of the CVM. The mandate was expected to last until July 2027.

He attributed his decision to “personal reasons.” Nascimento said that he now intends to dedicate himself to academic life, writing and family, after leaving his position.

According to the law that regulates the CVM, in the event of the president’s resignation, death or end of term, the interim presidency is assumed by the oldest or most senior member of the board.
