The national youth congress approved last Friday (19) a motion that calls for the opening of procedures in the party’s ethics committee against .
The PT member is the target of three requests to the party’s ethics committee due to the police action that left more than 120 people dead in October.
Quaquá’s statements were given during a seminar promoted
In the approved motion, the party’s youth states that “it is not new that Quaquá has been escalating his fascist speech, which goes against party precepts, without any measure commensurate with his statements being taken within PT bodies”.
When contacted via consultancy, Quaquá stated that the party cannot be polarized by “upper middle class, university youth, who do not live the reality of the people and idealize banditry”.
“Young people, especially black and poor people from the favelas, are the biggest victims of violence in Brazil. It causes me astonishment and surprise that, precisely, those who represent them in the PT want to punish me for taking a stand against criminals who cause death and pain in the country’s communities”, said the mayor, in a statement.
