Season starts at 12:03 pm, without El Niño or La Niña, but under the influence of high pressure
Summer officially starts this Sunday, at 12:03 pm Brasília time. The hottest season of the year runs until March 21, 2026.
The arrival of summer in 2025 comes after a spring marked by atypical cold in several regions of the country. The La Niña phenomenon influenced the climate and contributed to the drop in temperatures throughout the season.
The forecast for this year is very hot. Climatempo indicates that, in much of Brazil, temperatures are expected to be above the historical average.
The volume of rain, however, tends to be lower than expected. This summer, there will be no El Niño or La Niña in Brazil. The main climate phenomenon to influence Brazil will be the South Atlantic Subtropical High, known as Asas.
This high pressure system makes cloud formation difficult and reduces the occurrence of rain in several areas of the country.
According to meteorologist Desirée Brandt, from Nottus, in January, at least until the second fortnight, the volume of rain should remain within the expected standard. Throughout the summer, however, precipitation can occur irregularly.
With intense heat and poorly distributed rain, the scenario continues to pay attention to the water sources that supply São Paulo, which already have lower volumes.
