Last Tuesday (16) approved a project for universities, with the aim of preventing harassment and implementing educational actions to raise awareness and hold perpetrators accountable.
The project goes to the governor (Republicans) for sanction or veto. The law comes into force 90 days after the date of its official publication.
The text is from and deals with violence in physical and virtual universities.
The proposal aims to change behavior patterns based on stigmas or stereotypes of women and prevent violence through educational actions to raise awareness and hold perpetrators accountable, in addition to enabling victim protection.
The project establishes at least 12 measures to be adopted by higher education institutions, including the training of teachers, managers, employees and students, the disclosure of contact details of reporting bodies and the guarantee of speed in disciplinary processes and the progress of investigations.
Furthermore, it also provides that, during and after the complaint, the victim receives assistance, psychological, legal and health care, in a safe space.
