Responsible for the most acclaimed championship in South America, Conmebol has already officially defined almost all 47 participants for the 2026 Copa Libertadores. With a scheduled start date of February 3, the championship will feature seven other Brazilian representatives in addition to Flamengo – champion of the tournament in 2025.

As the Rio club also won the Brazilian Championship, the top five in the points competition are already in the group stage. The sixth and seventh, Botafogo and Bahia, respectively, will play in the preliminary phase of the Libertadores. The last available spot is occupied by Corinthians, winner of the Copa do Brasil.

The 47 places are divided as follows: Brazil has seven qualified teams, Argentina has six, while Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela each have four positions available.

The tournament has also already determined the venue for the final, which is scheduled for November 28th. In an interview with ESPN, the president of Conmebol, Alejandro Domínguez, confirmed that the Centenário Stadium, in Montevideo, Uruguay, will host the last match of 2026.
