Dominika Cibulková follows one strict holiday rule: Since we have children, Christmas has a completely different dimension!

Former tennis player Dominika Cibulková is one of the most prominent sports personalities of our country. From the moment she ended her career, she began to focus on her family. Today, she has two adorable children, Jakubka and Ninka, and she is doing well in business. In the latest episode of the Off Record podcast with musician Teri Čikoš, she also talked about this year’s Christmas holidays on the web.

It is a particularly magical time for children, which she as a parent will also enjoy with them. “Since we have children, Christmas has a completely different dimension. They are already at such an age that they are already looking forward to it. So it will be like: wow. But those first years, when Kubo was one or two years old, it’s still like that….that you do everything for those children, you expect them to be happy and actually…he absolutely doesn’t know what’s going on yet,” summed up Cibulková honestly.

Now the children are ready and looking forward to it. “Last year, when you found those presents under the tree, I’m a bit of a supporter of trying to give everyone 5 gifts, because then that’s complete madness (madness, editor’s note), then he doesn’t even know what he has anymore. He just unpacks and throws away, unpacks and throws away. So I try to make sure that everyone gets up to 5 of the main gifts. Well, that’s all luck after that. Mom, do you understand? He knew it! He knew I wanted the magnetic puzzle,” she explained, imitating her son Jakubko.

As a mother, she is most happy with gifts for children and loved ones. At home, they observe traditional customs for Christmas. “I still live in such an old classic. Fried carp, potato salad – mayonnaise, sauerkraut with sausage, with mushrooms, so milky. Oh, and wafers, tubes, an apple is cut. But here we have such a tradition that on Christmas Day, actually after that we have duck, lox, and then on the 26th my grandmother cooks venison in a special sauce, we don’t eat the same thing for three days, but we have such different dishes.” revealed Dominika Cibulková.

She doesn’t make resolutions for the New Year, but as an athlete, she was superstitious in the fact that both on New Year’s and throughout the year! The older she gets, the more she lets it go and doesn’t put unnecessary pressure on herself.
