It was a good year for treasure hunters. For Scotland alone, the annual “treasure” report for 2024/2025 records over 6,000 finds. Of course, not every find was as glamorous as the medieval coin hoard at Cappercleuch: In February of this year, amateur detectorists discovered over thirty gold and silver coins from the 15th century in a field 75 kilometers southeast of Glasgow.
