The Italian competition authority considered that Apple violated the law on competition in the application creators market. You will therefore have to pay more than 98.6 million euros.
The Italian competition authority (AGCM) announced this Monday that it had imposed a fine of more than 98.6 million euros on the American company Apple for “abuse of a dominant position”.
According to the Italian authority, the Apple violated the law on competition in the application creator market.
“In this market, Apple is in a position of absolute dominance through its App Store”, says the AGCM in a statement.
The Italian authority also adds that Apple imposed conditions that were too restrictive, in terms of competition, with regard to respect for users’ privacy of applications.
These Apple conditions “are imposed unilaterally, harm the interests of Apple’s business partners and are not proportionate to the objective of respecting privacy“, considers the Italian authority.
