Accused by the former player of unduly benefiting the auctioneer of his mansion, the judge of the 1st Civil Court of Barueri (SP), Bruno Paes Straforini, purchased two vehicles from the auctioneer in recent years.
He filed a lawsuit, currently at the (Superior Court of Justice), saying that he was harmed by the magistrate, who chose Denys Pyerre de Oliveira as the auctioneer of the house, located in a gated community in Alphaville (SP).
The property, auctioned for , was , but Cafu claims it would be worth twice that and seeks to cancel the deal.
Oliveira was chosen by judge Staforini 52 times for auctions, which is considered unusual by people in the market. Cafu’s lawyers also point out in the action that the auctioneer was chosen even though he charged a higher commission than another recommended professional.
The first sale of the car, a Volvo utility vehicle manufactured in 2018, took place in July 2021. The judge purchased it from the company Bom Capital Holding, owned by the auctioneer.
The second deal took place in February 2025, also involving a Volvo, this time directly from the individual Oliveira. The values were not disclosed.
Other side
In a note, the judge says that the two vehicles “were acquired with a long interval of time through regularly signed contracts and upon due payment of the amounts owed, as evidenced by the relevant bank documentation, and there was no illegality or shady negotiation in the case”. He did not explain his relationship with the auctioneer.
The auctioneer’s company says that vehicle transfers “are absolutely regular, legal operations and are duly documented, having occurred strictly within legal parameters”.
He further states that he has been the target of an “opportunistic and orchestrated defamatory campaign, promoted by competitors and parties who, unsigned by the loss of assets in legitimate legal proceedings, seek to tarnish his reputation.”
