Just a few kilometers from the Slovak border, an armed bank robbery took place on Monday at noon.
The peaceful atmosphere in the Austrian border area was disturbed by an armed robbery. In the Austrian village of Deutsch Jahrndorf, which is located near the Slovak border, robbers raided a bank branch.
The Austrian police immediately launched a large-scale search, which also affects Slovak drivers, informs about it.
The course of the robbery
According to information from the Austrian portal, the robbery took place shortly before noon, at approximately 11:56 a.m. An unknown man entered the bank building, threatened the employees with a gun and demanded money in cash.
He then ran out of the bank and got into a car where another man was waiting for him. The amount of the stolen amount is not yet known. Police confirmed that no one was injured in the incident.
Helicopter over Kittsee
Due to the proximity of the borders, there is a suspicion that the perpetrators could try to escape to the territory of Slovakia or Hungary. The Austrian police have therefore occupied several border crossings with Slovakia, where they monitor passing vehicles. Increased police activity is also reported from the Austrian village of Kittsee, which is a favorite residence of many Slovaks. A police helicopter was circling the area searching for the suspect vehicle.
“At the moment, the so-called alarm search is underway and the police have no clues that would indicate the nationality of the perpetrators,” police spokesman Ludwig Goldenitsch told Markíza.
