Lula sanctions 8% adjustment for Judiciary employees in 2026

President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) sanctioned this Monday (22) an 8% increase in the salary of permanent public servants in the Judiciary, approved by the National Congress. The new amounts will be paid from July 1, 2026.

Initially, the approved proposal provided for the adjustment to be granted in 2026, 2027 and 2028. However, the sections that established the adjustment from 2027 onwards were vetoed by Lula.

According to Palácio do Planalto, the adjustment planned for 2027 and 2027 would cause an increase in personnel expenses in periods after the end of Lula’s third term, which contradicts the fiscal responsibility law.

The correction includes the basic salaries of permanent positions, commissioned positions and commissioned functions of employees of the Judiciary. The text was approved by the Senate at the end of November.

Additional

Lula also sanctioned this Monday (22) the additional qualification for employees of the Judiciary. The benefit is intended for employees in the Staff Careers who have completed training activities and undergraduate courses or acquired titles, diplomas or postgraduate course certificates, as well as professional certifications.

The additional will be calculated based on multiples of the reference value under the following terms:

  • 5 times the reference value for a doctorate degree, limited to a single degree;
  • 3.5 times the reference value for a master’s degree, limited to a single degree;
  • 1 time the reference value for a lato sensu postgraduate course, at a specialization level, with the possibility of accumulating up to two postgraduate degrees;
  • 0.2 times the reference value for a set of training actions that total at least 120 hours, with the possibility of accumulating up to 3 sets of 120 hours of training actions;
  • 1 time the reference value for a second undergraduate course, limited to 1 course;
  • 0.5 times the reference value for professional certification granted by a certifying entity, with the possibility of accumulating up to two certifications.
