Man arrested after keeping teenage sister and cousin in private prison

A man was arrested on Saturday afternoon (20) suspected of keeping his own sister, a teenager, and a cousin under threat, in the municipality of Valparaíso (SP). The incident mobilized people after reports that the victims were being kept trapped inside family homes.

According to the PM, the suspect used a machete to coerce his sister and kept her locked inside the house, preventing other people from entering the property. After the police team arrived, the agents managed to negotiate with the man and convince him to release the teenager.

Soon after, the suspect fled through the back of the residence and broke into his grandmother’s house. There, he began to keep a cousin in private prison, placing a knife in the victim’s waist area and threatening to kill her, in addition to intimidating other family members who were in the property.

Given the situation, the police arrested the man. According to the corporation, he reacted to the approach, which resulted in a physical fight between the suspect and the agents.

Due to the injuries suffered during restraint, the man was taken to Santa Casa de Valparaíso, where he received medical attention. After being released, he was taken to the police station and remained detained.

In a statement to the police, the sister reported that she was held in private prison for around an hour and a half. She further stated that she was attacked with five punches to the head, three to the face and kicks to the legs. The case was registered and remains under investigation by the Civil Police.
