After playing in the last rounds of the Brasileirão in sacrifice, Neymar saw Santos remain in Série A and achieve the year’s objective. This Monday (22/12), the player underwent surgery to correct the meniscus of his left knee, in Belo Horizonte.
The procedure, which lasted around 1h30, was conducted by doctor Rodrigo Lasmar, doctor for the Brazilian team, at the Mater Dei hospital, in the capital of Minas Gerais. The surgery was successful, Santos said in an official statement.

Arthroscopy was performed to treat a lesion in the medial meniscus. The surgery was a success and the athlete is doing well — Santos wrote in an official note.

How much recovery time will Neymar need?
Neymar will be discharged early this Monday afternoon and is already beginning his rehabilitation process, which will be coordinated by physiotherapist Rafael Martini. With the surgery, the number 10 is expected to miss Santos’ pre-season, which will be performed again in person on January 2nd.
The tendency is for Neymar to renew his contract with Alvinegro for another six months. The player should have a month of recovery and is expected to return to play only in February.
Santos’ debut in the season will be on the 11th, against Novorizontino, in the Campeonato Paulista, at home.
