Nuno Markl recovering from stroke
The comedian revealed in a podcast that he had suffered a second stroke, a few days after the one that caused him to be admitted to the hospital. “What the second one did was not return it to zero, but to minus 30,” says Markl. Contrary to what is usual, the first stroke was hemorrhagic, and the second was ischemic.
Presenter and comedian Nuno Mark confirmed this Sunday, in episode 134 of the podcast ”, by Bruno Nogueira, that he had suffered a second stroke, a few days after the episode, on November 21st, in a hospital unit.
In the conversation on the topic, Markl explains that the first stroke was hemorrhagic, while the second was ischemic. “For me, it’s a whole package. I can’t really tell the two apart, it was a roll of shit that fell on me on top”.
The presenter, who is still recovering from the consequences of his first stroke in a hospital unit “incrediblewith a team that I never tire of honoring, but that few people know where I am“, described the differences between the two episodes.
“The second did exactly the same as the first. The second, ischemic, I was already moving, I was already moving my hand, I was already holding my cell phone With this hand, I was able to wash my head with both hands. What the second one did, basically, was not that it would return to zero but to minus 30“.
“It was one of the saddest days of my life. That morning, I had been walking, moving, practicing climbing stairs, and suddenly…”, he laments. “I was anxious that day to say that I missed homethat the environment was sometimes complicated at Egas Moniz”, adds the presenter of Taskmaster, on RTP1.
Markl also describes the moment he realized something was wrong: “The nurses they needed me to find a way with my legs to put a stretcher inside my room. I was already moving both legs perfectly. Only I look at my foot and it’s stoppedand I thought it was stuck in something on the table, then I realized that it was completely loose, but it didn’t move and it stopped moving again and so did my hand and arm”.
“I immediately called the nurse and the doctorwho was off duty, came running to the hospital, he was the one who told me what happened it was a rarity scientific: what normally happens is first an ischemic and then a hemorrhagicnow, the hemorrhagic and then the ischemic is something that doesn’t make much sense in terms of science and it happened to me.”
Ischemic stroke occurs when the blood supply to part of the brain is cut off. interrupted by a lockwhile hemorrhagic stroke occurs when a blood vessel breaks.
But not everything was bad to the presenter, who maintains optimism and good humor: “attention, I lost 4 kilos! I lost 4 kilos in a week and a half.” And it’s easy to see why: “I’m forbidden from eating shit by the nutritionist here at the hospital.”
