“Pincer attack”: Rare, spectacular wave west of Australia

«Pincer attack»: Σπάνιο, εντυπωσιακό κύμα δυτικά της Αυστραλίας

A rare and impressive marine phenomenon was recently recorded off the southwest coast of the West. This is the so-called “pincer attack wave”, in which two strong waves converge, creating a huge vertical jet of water.

According to a report by ABC Australia, the collision of the waves resulted in a vertical “explosion” of sea water, 40 meters high. The power of the phenomenon was such that the water even hit the drone recording the incident from the air.

Photographer Allen, who captured the rare phenomenon, said the image was so unusual and impressive that many who saw the video initially believed it was a product of artificial intelligence. As he explained, however, this is a real natural phenomenon, which occurs rarely and under very specific conditions.

Experts point out that such waves are extremely dangerous, both for boats and for people who are near the coastline or in the sea. The unpredictable force and vertical tension of water can cause serious accidents in a matter of seconds.
