Six prisoners escaped from the Sumaré Public Prison, in the metropolitan region of Campinas, on Sunday (21). The escape occurred after a custody hearing, in which the judge decides whether a prisoner caught in the act should remain in prison or be allowed to respond to the trial while free.

The incident was registered at the Americana Sectional Police Station as an escape of a person arrested or subject to security measures, and measures are being taken to locate and recapture the detainees.
According to the police report, a municipal guard left the cell unlocked, which made the escape possible. Forensics were called to the scene, and the 9th Auxiliary Internal Affairs Division of the Civil Police, based in Piracicaba, was notified.
Also according to the SSP, a Detailed Term was drawn up, which will be forwarded to the Special Criminal Court to investigate what happened.
