Alexandra Sash Okálova got into music by accident: I told myself that I would never sing in Slovak in my life!

To the latest part of the Koktejl.sk podcast Off Record with musician Teri Čikoš the Slovak singer accepted the invitation. Alexandra Okálova is known under the stage name Sash. He is already active on the music scene 19 years as an integral member of the successful group Funkiez.

She had her first contact with art as a child, when she was excited by the music on the radio. Already at the age of six, she told her mother that she would be a singer. She had no idea that she would actually make a living from it one day!

Sash told us how her career in the band was shaped, what pushed her the most and why she considers Funkiez to be her musical family. Last year she made an important step – she released her first solo albumwith which she showed a completely different, more personal position of her work. She talked about how new songs were created, what inspired her and how she enjoys greater authorial freedom.

The interesting thing is that Sash is also actively engaged in writing texts – and not only for his own projects. He is also behind some songs singer Nela Pocisková, with whom he has been working for a long time. In the podcast, she revealed what the process of creating for another artist is like and why she enjoys this role immensely.
