According to the portal, Slovakia is in for a fundamental change in the weather. Snow will return to some parts of our territory. During the last month, Slovakia was shrouded in fog and the sun could only be seen on the mountains. However, Slovakia is also troubled by the lack of precipitation. Most Slovaks did not even believe that they would experience a white Christmas again. However, a cold front will begin to affect the weather, which will also bring precipitation.
Cloudiness will increase over our territory today and light precipitation will gradually occur. Although it should be just rain at lower elevations in the southwest, it will cool from the northwest and the snow line will start to fall with it. In the north and northeast of the territory, it gradually reaches the lowest locations.
Slovaks can expect precipitation especially after 3 p.m. In the Prešov Region, precipitation will gradually turn into snow. During the evening, the snow will spread. Although the precipitation will bring only a few millimeters or centimeters of snow, it will be the first snowfall in lower elevations after a long time.
By Wednesday morning, snowfall will occur mainly in the Žilina and Prešov regions. The most snowfall of up to 5 millimeters is expected on Spiš and Gemeri. Tomorrow morning it may be white in some areas of northern Slovakia. However, it will not be a white Christmas elsewhere.
