Authors are suing Google, Meta and OpenAI over use of their books


Washington/Mountain View/Menlo Park – A group of authors led by investigative journalist John Carreyrou is suing several technology companies such as Google, OpenAI and Meta. They accuse the companies of illegally using their copyrighted books to train artificial intelligence (AI). Carreyrou is known for exposing fraud at the US blood testing startup Theranos. The lawsuit filed on Monday in California is also directed against Elon Musk’s company xAI.
