IPCA-15 rises 0.25% in December and accumulates an increase of 4.41% in 2025

Result released by IBGE this Tuesday (23) is in line with financial market projections and points to acceleration in relation to the November index

IPCA-15 rises 0.25% in December and accumulates an increase of 4.41% in 2025

The Broad National Consumer Price Index – 15 (-15) rose 0.25% in December, after having increased 0.20% in November, reported this Tuesday (23) the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (). In December 2024, the rate was 0.34%.

The 0.25% increase in the IPCA-15 in December was in line with the median, of 0.25%, of financial market estimates collected by Projeções Broadcast, which indicated a range between increases of 0.12% to 0.40%.

With the result announced this Tuesday, the IPCA-15 registered an increase of 4.41% in the accumulated result for 2025.

To calculate the IPCA-15, prices were collected from November 14th to December 12th (reference) and compared with those in force from October 14th to November 13th (base).

The IBGE indicator refers to families with an income of 1 to 40 minimum wages and covers the Metropolitan Regions of Rio de Janeiro, Porto Alegre, Belo Horizonte, Recife, São Paulo, Belém, Fortaleza, Salvador and Curitiba, in addition to Brasília and the municipality of Goiânia.

The methodology used is the same as the IPCA. The difference lies in the price collection period and geographic coverage.
