BOLSONARO’S SURGERY

According to the PF expert report, Bolsonaro needs to undergo a surgical procedure called . The medical report and protocols for the case indicate that the procedure must follow the technique conventional (open)which consists of the following steps:

  • incision and repositioning: the surgeon makes a cut in the groin region (in this case, on both sides, as it is bilateral) to locate the hernia — which is when a part of the intestine or fat passes through a point of weakness in the muscles. This content is pushed back into the abdominal cavity;
  • reinforcement with mesh: The central point of the surgery is the placement of a polypropylene mesh (a resistant synthetic mesh). This mesh is fixed over the muscle failure to reinforce the abdominal wall, acting as a “patch” which prevents tissue from coming out again.
