The minister of the (Supreme Federal Court) reopened the case against the impeached deputy. The decision could lead to an increase in the sentence for the former parliamentarian, who fled Brazil and is in the United States.

The trial of some of the coup plot crimes that occurred after Ramagem’s diploma had been suspended by the Chamber while he was still a federal deputy.

These are the criminal types linked to the 8th of January: damage qualified by violence and serious threat, against the Union’s property, and with considerable damage to the victim and deterioration of listed property.

Ramagem was sentenced to more than 16 years in prison for an attempted coup d’état.

The escape, in turn, led him to lose his mandate as federal deputy, which happened last week following a decision by the board of directors of the Chamber of Deputies.

With the reopening of the process, Moraes ordered the holding of evidentiary hearings with the hearing of prosecution and defense witnesses.

Also this Tuesday, the Chamber of Deputies canceled the diplomatic passports of Ramagem and former federal deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro (PL), who is also in the United States.

The cancellation of their passports does not immediately affect their stay in the USA, according to diplomatic sources from the American government. This right is granted, generally with a defined period, when a citizen of another country enters United States territory.

Ramagem arrived in November. Eduardo traveled to the country in March, but has already left for international trips and returned to American territory more recently, also in November.

Furthermore, the Brazilian government requests Ramagem’s extradition. The request has already been forwarded by the Ministry of Justice to Itamaraty.
