Information contained in a new batch of thousands of unpublished files
US President Donald Trump flew at least eight times on convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein’s private plane, including a trip with just Epstein and a 20-year-old girl, according to US court documents.
This information is contained in a new batch of thousands of unpublished files on the Epstein case, which the United States Department of Justice published on Monday afternoon, but which appears to have been subsequently deleted.
However, download them before they become unavailable.
Unlike the files released last Saturday, the new ones include several mentions of Trump, who has tried to distance himself as much as possible from Epstein and his crimes, the newspaper reported today.
“I want you to know that the flight records we received yesterday [segunda-feira] reflect that Donald Trump traveled on Epstein’s private jet many more times than previously reported (or that we were aware of),” wrote an attorney for the Southern District of New York in a January 2020 email, which is included in the case file.
Trump flew on that plane at least eight times between 1993 and 1996, the prosecutor wrote, noting that this period coincides with the investigation into Epstein’s accomplice and former companion, Ghislaine Maxwell, who was on at least four of those flights with the now President.
In some cases, the prosecutor added, those who traveled on the plane could serve as witnesses in the case against Maxwell, who was sentenced in 2021 to 20 years in prison for sex trafficking of minors.
The documents also reveal that the FBI gathered several clues about the relationship between Trump and Epstein during parties held at their respective properties in the early 2000s, although they do not confirm whether there were subsequent investigations.
In addition, the files show that investigators in the Maxwell case sent a subpoena to Mar-a-Lago, Trump’s mansion and private club in West Palm Beach, Florida, in 2021, according to The Washington Post.
The reason for this subpoena is not entirely clear, but the documents indicate that a federal prosecutor was looking for documents about people who worked at Trump’s club that could be relevant to the case against Maxwell.
“I haven’t been able to locate anyone who remembers [informação omitida] working in Mar-a-Lago in 2000,” the prosecutor wrote in an email included among the new documents.
The new batch of files also includes a 22-page letter sent by the criminal division of the US Department of Justice to UK authorities requesting a voluntary interview with the “PA Witness”, referring to the then British Prince Andrew.
King Charles III of the United Kingdom stripped his brother Andrew of his princely title and other honors in November after he fell into disgrace over his past ties to Epstein and questionable business dealings.
The Department of Justice launched a website last Friday to access documents from the investigation into Epstein, who committed suicide in prison in 2019, after the approval of a law in Congress that requires the Government to disclose all unclassified information on the case.
