Contrary to appearances, a second chin is not always the result of extra kilos. Although excess weight may contribute to its formation, it is often also a result natural skin aging processes and weakening of the neck and jaw muscles.
Genetics is also important in this case, because some people tend to accumulate tissue in this area regardless of weight. What’s more, the appearance of our chin can also be affected by everyday habits, such as spending long hours with our heads bent over the phone, which weakens the neck muscles and causes it to droop.
Additionally, the lack of traffic improper body posture and insufficient body hydration may accelerate the loss of skin firmness.

If we want to reduce the visibility of a double chin, we can use home remedies to get rid of the problem. The best method is daily exercise, which will strengthen the neck muscles and improve skin tension.
One of the simplest ones is the chin lift, which involves tilting your head back and stretching your lower lip towards the ceiling, maintaining the tension for a few seconds and repeating it 10-15 times. The next exercise is “fish”. During it, we move our cheeks and lips forward, hold this position and come back. This way we will strengthen the jaw muscles.
It is also a good idea to pronounce “A”, “O”, “U” clearly and strongly, which will help strengthen the suprahyoid muscles. Another exercise worth trying is “smacking”, i.e. making a kissing gesture upwards for a few minutes, which activates the chin muscles.
It is also worth systematically performing a gentle neck and chin massage to improve blood circulation and skin elasticity. However, the key is to repeat these exercises every day, preferably for a few minutes, and we will see the first results after 6-8 weeks.
