The event brought together players, managers and fans at the Neo Química Arena, with shouts to rivals and requests for Fabinho Soldado to stay; strong heat caused discomfort among part of the public
Corinthians players celebrated this Monday, alongside the fans, winning the Copa do Brasil title. The party was held in the parking lot of the Neo Química Arena, in Itaquera, where an electric trio was set up to receive the cast, coaching staff and directors after the 2-1 victory over Vasco, on Sunday, at Maracanã.
According to the Military Police, around ten thousand fans participated in the celebration. Although the start was scheduled for 11 am, the athletes only joined the trio at around 12:30 pm, taking the competition cup.
As is traditional in title celebrations, there was no shortage of provocations towards rivals. Striker Romero shouted against Palmeiras, while players also directed corners at Vasco, runner-up. Defender Gustavo Henrique was one of the most excited, leading the club’s anthem with the fans.
During the celebration, some athletes, such as Hugo Souza, Yuri Alberto and Matheuzinho, approached the public, which generated a moment of tension and required the intervention of the Military Police to contain the movement.
Another highlight of the party were the shouts of “Stay, Soldado”, in support of football executive Fabinho Soldado, whose stay at the club is still uncertain. The director even gave a speech after being called to the trio by Rodrigo Garro and received expressions of support from fans and players.
The strong heat, with temperatures above 30 °C in São Paulo, caused some fans to feel unwell before and during the event. There was medical assistance on site, and arena employees distributed water to minimize the effects of the intense heat.]
After the celebration, the cast goes on vacation. The re-presentation is scheduled for January 3rd, and Corinthians’ debut next season will be on January 11th, against Ponte Preta, in the Campeonato Paulista, again in Itaquera.
