The actress was born in 1924 near Pilsen to a family of Czech Germans. She was in Czechoslovakia until her graduation year. Then the war came and after it she had to move out, like all Germans. Cinderella’s stepmother was evil and cruel on screen, but in in fact, Braunbock was friendly, cheerful and smiling.
Her funny nature was also experienced by the crew, who had no idea for a long time that the German actress speaks Czech. However, she only speaks German in the film and had to be overdubbed. Unfortunately, she died five years after the premiere of the cult fairy tale.
Although Braunbock was successful in her professional life, she was not so lucky in her personal life. Just when she had started her career and started a family, tragedy struck her. When her son was only four months old, her husband died suddenly. She herself also left early – at the age of 54. During her life, she played around 80 roles and, in addition to acting, also worked on the radio.
