The earthquake struck the island country at 5:47 p.m. local time (10:47 a.m. CET) at a depth of 11.9 kilometers. According to Taiwan’s Central Meteorological Administration, Taitung County was affected. The tremors were also felt in the capital, Taipei. According to the US Geological Survey (USGS), it was a magnitude 6.0 earthquake that hit Taiwan at a depth of ten kilometers.
