According to tradition, in addition to delicious dumplings or borscht with dumplingsthere should also be an aromatic dried herb compote. This is an important element of Polish tradition. Especially in the south of our country.

If you love it too, you want it to taste great and not be too sweet, but have a perfect spicy and fruity aroma, you need to add the right ingredients to it. This year, when preparing the drink, add spices and which you like the most, but don’t forget about one specific addition.

Dried fruit compote, traditionally referred to as juha (due to its dark, intense color), is a drink made from dried fruit.which is most popular during Christmas.

It usually contains plums, apples, pears and apricots. It is assumed that it should contain at least three types of fruit. The inhabitants of Silesia and Lesser Poland love it and it is no wonder, because it is tasty and aromatic, also due to the numerous spices contained in it.

You can add spices to the dried compote, such as cinnamon, cloves, ginger or cardamom. It’s also worth adding orange peel, models and pantiesto make it taste even more interesting. It can also be a source of many vitamins contained in its ingredients, although of course you have to be careful about the sugar content.

If dried compote is usually too sweet for you, add more sour fruit to it, e.g. an orange or a piece of lemon. However, grapefruit works bestwhich will add some of its characteristic bitterness to the drink, making it less uniform and cloying.

Just add a few slices of it to change the taste of the dried compote for the better and make it more “accessible”. Also for those household members who do not like sweet drinks.

Preparing the dried herb compote will take you about 40 minutes, but then the drink will have to wait some time, so that the flavors contained in it can “melt together” well.
